Things to do in the Lake District this Summer

Go Walking in the Lake District
While staying at our Windermere Guesthouse and Hostel, why not join a guided walk through the Cumbrian Fells. If, however, you’d rather set out on your own, you don’t have to go walk far. Head north of and you will soon be rewarded by the views across Windermere from nearby Orrest Head.
Visit Coniston Country Fair
As well as popular tourist attractions in Windermere, there are also lots of annual events in the surrounding areas. In particular, things to do in the Lake District this summer include all the fun of Coniston Country Fair.
It gives tourists the chance to experience the local traditions of Cumbria, including Cumberland and Westmorland Wrestling. Farmers from far and wide also descend on Coniston with livestock and hopes of winning the “Best in Show”.
Camp out at Kendal Calling
As one of the Lake Districts most popular musical festivals, Kendal Calling attracts some of the biggest names in music. This year Kendal Calling features classic artists such as Tom Jones and Manic Street Preachers, playing alongside younger, up and coming bands.

Enjoy Lake District Summer Music
Staying with live performances, if you don’t like the idea of camping, then Lake District Summer Music is somewhat more civilised. Taking place between 27th July and 9th August, there are 40 separate events to choose from.
Spread across the fortnight there are an array of performances taking place, including church recitals and classical concerts.

Catch a Steam Train in the Lake District
